Karen is the ideal combination of knowledgeable, passionate and innovative. Faced with the challenging task of helping my college student integrate a holistic approach to food and nutrition, Karen created a realistic program so that my student could not only succeed, but also continue to make healthy choices going forward on her own. Karen’s support included researching medical practitioners, reviewing lab reports and providing insight into the ever-expanding world of nutrition and health information. In addition to Karen’s expertise around nutrition and physical health, a profound benefit in working with her came in the area of emotional wellness, getting in touch with my more authentic self and establishing priorities to move forward amidst the dissolution of my long-term marriage. Karen is a supportive, gentle, great listener. She’s knowledgeable, compassionate and reliable. This has been an extraordinary 6-month process. I started meeting with Karen when I was a senior in college. I was readying myself for many changes and transitions and was struggling to get through everything in a healthy way. Karen helped me begin my journey towards a healthier mind and body. Rather than having me overhaul my diet and lifestyle, which had never worked well in the past, Karen helped me make smaller changes in order to build a stronger foundation. Together, we started to identify my strengths and weaknesses when it came to making choices about my wellbeing. Karen provided me with various readings, recipes, books and other tools to help me get a better understanding of what was going on with my body. I also learned more about how my emotional health and physical health are connected and how helping one can help the other. Shortly after our sessions ended, I had to make some big lifestyle changes, and much of Karens advice helped me get off to a strong start. I am now better at identifying triggers that cause me to fall into past habits and can more easily plan ahead to ensure a healthier future. I also constantly benefit from the breathing exercises we worked on which help when I become stressed, which happens a lot as a recent college graduate. Karen was a careful listener and made me feel safe and supported throughout our time together. I am the healthiest and happiest I have been in a long time and much of that started with Karens guidance.
